Skills:
Technical Leadership, Product Management, Product Design, Full-stack Software Development, Web Application Development
Agentic Engineering, Data Engineering, Observability Engineering
I’m a technical leader and hands-on software engineer with 14+ years building software. I have worked at senior management level (CTO, Head of Product), but always stayed in touch with building software solutions in a hands-on way.
I like building solutions that challenge the status quo.
To achieve this, I have taken on many different roles across software engineering. This allows me to have a holistic view of the challenges ahead.
Currently I am taking on freelance and interim engagements through CuriousBits. Got an interesting problem to solve? Let’s talk.

Development of an access management tool, controlling access to intellectual property for all hardware design engineers.
We built from scratch with only a few developers, following my guidance on efficient software development using Django. We were live in 3 months and serving our first users. One year later it is being adopted by all engineers and projects in the organization.
Interim Technical Consultant

Helped organizations to integrate with the Actuals transaction reconciliation platform and set up data ingestion pipelines.

I helped the existing team to go from prototype to production by setting up the necessary infrastructure and integration between the different initiatives.
I also introduced basic product management and software development processes and worked with the CEO to set the direction so that we were ready to onboard the first clients.
Software Engineer
June 2021 - January 2023 (Eindhoven, The Netherlands)
I supported new developers in understanding the product while the company was scaling up rapidly.
Next to this, I delivered a new asynchronous microservice providing faster tracking updates of parcels.
I introduced performance and stability improvements across the platform while also improving the observability.
I also went back to solving long-standing issues, like label print quality.

Lead Engineer, Data Management Platform

Worked together with management as part of the management team, and interacted with key stakeholders to maximize value and improve execution.

Initiated and participated in a total rewrite of the platform to improve quality and scalability: an AngularJS SPA, replacing PHP with Python/Django, high test coverage including E2E tests of the entire stack running on a CI server, introduction of a task queue and background workers, and automating the stack to be reproducible on any development machine. Grew the development team to 12 people and led the development of features that still define Sendcloud today. Took an active role in the developer community by organizing meetups, and closely collaborated with management as part of the board of the company.

Created because we have been looking for another home for the past 3(!) years.
An energy certificate is required to sell a home. So this allows me to identify houses which might go for sale soon.
